Administrative Staff

Ken Rae, CFA
Chairman & CEO
Ken Rae, before founding his own business in 1988, developed his investment expertise over 25 years while managing large multi-million dollar portfolios for financial institutions. He was the Investment Officer for Dominion Life before it was acquired by Mutual Life, giving him the responsibility for a broad investment portfolio. Since founding the firm, Ken has presided over The RaeLipskie Partnership’s successful growth.
Ken and his wife Norah reside in Waterloo and have two children. Ken has dedicated much of his life to volunteering with various organizations. He is the past president of the Investment Counsel Association of Canada, the past chairman of Scouts Canada (north Waterloo district) and is currently the treasurer of his church. When Ken has some free time, he loves to ski, hike, curl and play tennis. Ken also enjoys the challenge of doing crosswords and suduko puzzles.
Brian Lipskie, CFA
President
Brian Lipskie joined Ken Rae in 1989 to form Rae & Lipskie Investment Counsel Inc., an investment management company with 16 employees managing approximately $600 million on behalf of institutions and private clients. Brian’s investment career began in 1985 with Wood Gundy in private client investment management. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Brian attained his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1990. In addition to actively participating in portfolio management at The RaeLipskie Partnership, Brian directs the operations of the Company.
Brain is actively involved in the Kitchener-Waterloo community. He is a past president of the Waterloo-Wellington Estate Planning Council, a current board member of Junior Achievement of Waterloo Region, and a member of the finance committee for the Congregation of the Resurrection in Ontario. Brian enjoys golf and resides with his wife, stepson and twin daughters in Conestogo, Ontario.
Ted Brough, CFA
Chief Investment Officer
Ted Brough joined the firm in 1997 after spending twenty-one years at Mu-cana Investment Counselling, the last thirteen years as President. Ted now uses his experience derived from directing investments for large pension and other institutional funds across North America to guide The RaeLipskie Partnership’s investment operations.
Ted and his wife, Mary, live in Elmira and have four grown children and a herd of grandchildren. Ted volunteers his time as a board member of the Woolwich Community Fund and serves as an elder at church. During Ted’s free time, he enjoys his cottage on Lake Huron, playing water sports in the summer, and snow sports in winter.
David Paleczny
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager
Dave Paleczny joined The RaeLipskie Partnership in 1996 after a successful 24 year career with Mu-Cana Investment Counselling. He served as Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Administration and dealt with large pension fund and institutional clients across North America. David currently manages investment portfolios for select clients with our firm.
Dave and his wife, Mary, live in Conestogo, while their four children reside in various places across Canada – from Nova Scotia to the Yukon. Dave and Mary love to travel to interesting places around the world. They have hiked in China, New Zealand, Africa and are currently engaged in a hike in Italy from the Alps to Rome. This hike will take them approximately two year’s to complete as they hike two weeks at a time when their busy work schedules permit. Dave is also the past president of the K-W Symphony and still resides on the board.
David Martin, CIM
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager
David Martin began his investment career in 1987 on joining Mu-cana Investment Counselling. In 1996, he became a principal in the successor company, Perigee Investment Counsel, dealing with large pension fund and institutional clients. David joined The RaeLipskie Partnership in 2004.
Dave has three children in university so Dave plans to work forever. Dave enjoys spending time at his cottage on Lake Huron with family and friends. His activities of choice include sailing, golfing, and skiing in the winter. A quiet evening catching a sunset is a perfect way to end the day for Dave.
Jo-Ann Carlisle, CIM
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager
Jo-Ann Carlisle gained her investment knowledge and experience at the Prudential Life Assurance Company. Since joining The RaeLipskie Partnership in 1995, Jo-Ann has been sharing her experience and education while managing portfolios for our firm’s clients.
Jo-Ann is a member of CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women), currently chairing the Publicity Committee. She is Past President of the K-W Weavers' & Spinners' Guild, and has been spinning and weaving for more than seven years. Jo-Ann enjoys crafts of most kinds. Three cats rule the roost at home but agree to leave things intact when Jo-Ann and her husband, John, are vacationing at their farm on Manitoulin Island.
Thomas Pick, MBA
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager
Thomas Pick began his investment career in the early 1970s in Toronto working on Private Client investment management. He also had a long career at Mu-cana Investment Counselling and then Perigee Investment Counsel as a Portfolio Manager for pension, institutional portfolios and private clients.
Tom resides in Kitchener with his wife, Margot. They have two girls with successful careers, one as a poet/author and the other an anti-addiction specialist. Tom is very involved in environmental issues, serving as president (in the past) for the Grand River Conservation Authority Foundation and is a member of the national board for Ducks Unlimited. When Tom has some free time, he loves the outdoors, especially canoeing, tennis, skiing and fly fishing.
Derek Rae, CIM
Portfolio Manager
Derek Rae has acquired ten years of broad-based business experience through various management positions with a South Western Ontario specialty contracting firm. He then joined The RaeLipskie Partnership in 2004 and is currently a Chartered Financial Analyst candidate.
Derek has been married for 14 years, has two wonderful daughters and a houseful of pets. Derek volunteers his time with the Rotary Club of Waterloo and in his spare time enjoys playing the drums, bass and guitar, doing home renos, and reading non-fiction literature.
Andréa Miljkovic, CFA
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager
Investment Counsellor/Portfolio Manager Andréa Miljkovic joined The RaeLipskie Partnership in 2002. Previously, Andréa devoted five years of her career to CIBC Wood Gundy, gaining valuable experience in Private Client investment management and earning her Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Andréa currently manages investment portfolios for a select group of our clients.
Andréa has one daughter and is very physically active. Her sports of choice are running (1/2 marathons), hiking, skiing, snowboarding and volleyball. Andréa also devotes her time to furthering her education through continuing-ed programs and when Andrea has some free time she is involved with various committees and she enjoys travelling.
Marie Marchildon, CFA, CFP, FCSI
Portfolio Manager
Marie Marchildon began her investment career in 1981. Her well-rounded background encompasses the institutional and private client side of the investment business having been employed by a trust company, two brokerage firms, a major Canadian insurance company and private investment counsel firm. Marie has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) designations.
Marie is very devoted to her family. She has two small children that keep her very busy, and if that isn’t enough Marie provides care for her elderly parents. When Marie has some free time she enjoys participating in school committees and doing volunteer work. Marie also enjoys aquafit, and walking.
